Call out for Parks & Recreation Committee Members

The purpose of the GGFN Parks & Recreation Sites Committee is to provide upkeep and support to the Nations and Parks & Recreation Sites. GGFN Parks & Recreation Sites is new program being developed, to help understand the needs of the Nation to support growth to the current recreational structures, supporting the development of new parks, recreational sites and trails through-out our community. An initial goal of the committee will help create multi-year plan, which could include strategic tree planting, splash pads, outdoor rink (all season), BMX track, ball diamonds, skateboard park, camping area and walking/bike trail, driving range (golf) etc.  The goal is to create a safe and healthy lifestyle for our members of all ages.

The committee is currently seeking five (5) GGFN members who meet the following criteria:

  • Be an adult member (18 years minimum, but younger interest will be considered) of the George Gordon First Nation.
  • Experience in administering projects and programs.
  • Community minded with the ability to contribute to the development of new policies, procedures and practices.
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of one committee meeting per month including any employee recruitment processes.
  • Adhere to the George Gordon First Nation Oath of Confidentiality and all policies and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of project management techniques and methods.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of project management software is a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • A history of business development will be considered a strong asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Administration, Economics, or a relevant diploma is considered an asset
